BASW empowers communities in Malawi to battle Covid-19
An NGO in Malawi has been using grant funding from BASW to raise public awareness of the safety and efficacy of Covid-19 vaccinations.
The Mulelewaka Foundation is currently delivering 'Covid-19 Outreach' programmes - tailored for children, young people and families - to communities across Malawi.
The grant, which comes from BASW's International Development Fund, has empowered the Mulelewaka Foundation to establish "children's corners" - safe spaces where civic and public education can be delivered.
The vital project comes after a recent viral video clip, showing local primary school children 'running' from a vehicle they suspected was a Covid-19 vaccination mission.
Thanks to the hard work of all those involved in the project, myths around vaccines are starting to clear - and vaccine take-up rates are rising.
The project has been such a success that it was also featured in Malawi's national news.
BASW is committed to supporting its international partners in the battle against Covid-19, through the International Development Fund.
