BASW membership milestone announced at AGM
The British Association of Social Workers opened its Annual UK Conference and AGM by announcing a significant boost in membership to 20,000.
The association’s Chair Guy Shennan said the increase would help increase the ability of the organisation to get its message across.
Speaking at the event held in Birmingham entitled Speaking out and Speaking up for Social Work and for Social Workers, Mr Shennan said: ‘The stronger our voice the more we are able to speak up for social work and social workers.
“We continue to strengthen our voice and one of the clearest indications of this is the continuing increase in our membership.
“I am delighted to announce that last week we hit the 20,000 mark for the first time.
“This is a tremendous milestone.”
