BASW NI Committee Vacancies
An exciting opportunity has arisen for four BASW Northern Ireland member positions on the Northern Ireland National Standing Committee (NSC), including the role of Chair. We welcome applications from all parts of the sector including social workers in direct practice, specialist fields, managers, academics, practice educators, and those working in diverse settings.
The committee meets four times a year and this also counts as continual professional development to help maintain your registration.
This past year has been both very busy and very successful and BASW NI worked hard to engage and represent its membership. Issues have included the concerns over social work recruitment; the Insult and Injury report which led to the Department’s launch of a Tackling Violence Taskforce; campaign to reform Universal Credit and the two-child cap; BASW NI leading on the development of a position paper on the Individual Duty of Candour and the launch of the ground-breaking research Voices of Social Work through The Troubles in partnership with NISCC, QUB and UCD.
If you think that you could add to the team that makes a real difference to social work in Northern Ireland, then we want to hear from you. We are looking for members who are passionate about social work, committed to high standards of practice, able to demonstrate leadership skills and interested in shaping and influencing the future work of the BASW Northern Ireland Committee.
Those interested in being involved in the work of the BASW NI Committee either in the role of Chair or member are invited to apply by noon on Friday 6th December 2019 and nominations will be posted on our website at https://www.basw.co.uk/northern-ireland-committee-voting with a closing date for electronic voting of Friday 10th January 2020.
Candidates are initially elected for 2 years.
Travel expenses will be paid.
