BASW UK Chief Executive Bridget Robb announces her retirement
Today, BASW UK Chief Executive and General Secretary of SWU Bridget Robb announced her intention to retire. Therefore she will stand down from her joint role at the AGM in 2016.
Bridget Robb’s time as Chief Executive has seen major growth in membership and a widening of the work of the Association, including the formation of a new charitable BASW Foundation, a strong union and the development of BASW’s 2020 Vision: a blueprint for the future of BASW.
The Association’s work has been increasingly recognised by the UK’s social workers, policymakers, legislators and ministers, and the recent International Federation of Social Workers’ European Conference in Edinburgh placed BASW on the international stage.
BASW Council and its honorary officers have formally thanked Bridget for her contribution to BASW over the last 40 years – as a BASW member, as a member of staff, as the Development Manager and finally in the last three years as Chief Executive.
BASW Chair Guy Shennan stated: “We would like to thank Bridget for her contribution to BASW and will miss her in the role of Chief Executive, but we have no doubt that, as a BASW member, Bridget will continue to provide an invaluable input to the organisation.”
