Rise and shine with Northern Ireland’s social workers as they host a breakfast to celebrate Voypic’s (Voice of Young People in Care) Care Day, a shared day dedicated to children in care and care leavers. Voypic has created this first ever Care Day to raise the profile of children and young people in care and care leavers, celebrate the success stories and combat stereotypes.
Social workers will join Carolyn Ewart, Manager of the Northern Ireland Association of Social Workers (NIASW), to bolster their spirits with a hearty bite of breakfast before heading off to work to support young people.
Carolyn Ewart, NIASW Manager, explains: “We are really looking forward to playing our part in the first ever Care Day NI, it is really important to celebrate the achievements of all our children and young people in care, who all too often get a negative press. We are proud to lend our support to Voypic’s campaign.
“We also wanted to celebrate the social workers who work with children and young people in care. They do an amazing job and it goes largely unseen. Care Day NI is a chance to set that balance right and say well done to you all.”
This is a great opportunity to meet Northern Ireland’s social workers and hear their experiences of working within the care system.
