Call for Evidence: Experience of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children processes

APPG for social work has launched an inquiry into the experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Social Work, chaired by David Simmonds MP and Barbara Keeley MP, has launched a short inquiry into the experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and the processes involved.

We’re looking to hear from professionals, charities, organisations, people with lived experience, or anyone with experience in the process to contribute their experiences to the inquiry.

The three areas the inquiry is looking at are:

  • The experiences of UASC arriving in the UK
  • Age assessments
  • The experiences of UASC settling in the UK  

We’ll be looking for answers to:

  • What works well?
  • What doesn’t work well?
  • Where are the key risks and opportunities?
  • What does an effective and compassionate age assessment process look like?

Get involved

The inquiry will be complemented by a virtual roundtable with parliamentarians scheduled to take place on November 1st at 3pm. The APPG will get in touch with you if you are selected to take part in the roundtable. This roundtable will be live streamed. Please bear in mind you may not be called to join the roundtable. This may be because there is a limit to the total number of contributions or your contribution duplicates someone else’s contribution.
