Chance to influence research into social work with adults
Social workers have a chance to shape the kind of research carried out into social work practice with adults.
BASW’s Practice, Policy and Education Group (PPEG) for social work with adults is calling on members to get involved with a project to increase the amount and impact of research in this area of practice.
Initiated by England’s Chief Social Worker for Adults Lyn Romeo, it aims to find out through an online survey what practitioners, service users and carers want to be explored.
It is being facilitated by the James Lind Alliance, an organisation that enables experts by experience and professionals to influence research.
PPEG for social work with adults member Pete Feldon said: “There is already a lot of research about social care but very little that tells us about social work.
“The survey asks you to consider what you would like research to find out about practice and interventions in adult social work. It asks you to think about the questions you have around how social work promotes wellbeing, impacts on safety, supports people and interacts with others. It also asks for any other areas that you think research needs to address.
“This is a chance for us to think about what we don’t know, what we need to know, and what would be really useful for us in practice.”
To take part in the survey go to www.bit.ly/ASWresearch before 14 January 2018.
