European Social Work Day of Solidarity with Refugees
BASW and SWU are calling all members to support the European Social Work Day of Solidarity with Refugees called by the Social Work Action Network (SWAN).
The day has inspired action to be planned all over the globe between 3-6 June, and in the UK our day of action takes place on 5 June.
We are proud to be supporting SWAN who will be sending 50 activists to the Calais Camp including BASW and SWU members from the four UK nations.
The convoy will be launched from the SWAN Annual Conference on 4 June in London, travelling down to Dover and sailing for France on the following morning.
In the camp, the convoy will work closely with Care4Calais. Some convoy members will assist in the warehouse, some will meet and take ‘life narratives’ from refugees and some will gather worker and volunteer stories.
You will be able to read more about the convoy within PSW as well as a SWAN pamphlet. The evidence and stories gathered will also form part of a social work report that will be presented to the EU Parliament.
