Lyn Romeo urges social workers to learn about SWE at BASW England conference
Chief Social Worker, Lyn Romeo, is encouraging all social workers to find out more about the sector’s new regulator Social Work England (SWE) at the BASW England conference in Bristol on Friday 7th September.
“Social Work England, under the guidance and wise counsel of Lord Patel will drive forward improvements in – and the expansion of – social work practice by prioritising public protection and social work practice improvement,” says Romeo.
“In the meantime, I urge all new and established social workers to find out more about our new professional regulator.”
The new regulator will formally take over the reins from HCPC next year and BASW’s conference provides the ideal opportunity for social workers to hear about how this transfer will work and to ask any questions as part of a Q&A session.
“We are delighted to have key note presentations from Lord Patel OBE, Chair of SWE, Colum Conway newly appointed Chief Executive, SWE, as well as Margaret Wilcox OBE, Commissioning Director and Director of Adult Social Services who will be giving a presentation about Social Care – the next 10 years,” says Maris Stratulis, BASW National Director.
In addition, says Stratulis, the event will be a fabulous opportunity for social workers to network, to meet other social workers, students, people with lived experience, colleagues and have dedicated time to consider social work regulation, research, practice, policy and social work education issues.
