NIASW publishes findings of its consultation on the Department of Health proposal for Primary Care Multidisciplinary Teams
In October 2016, former Health Minister Michelle O’Neill launched her 10-year vision for Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland – Health and Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together.
The vision document outlines a future model of primary care based on multidisciplinary teams embedded around general practice. It explains these teams will include GPs, Pharmacists, District Nurses, Health Visitors, Allied Health Professionals and Social Workers.
To enable NIASW to contribute to the Department of Health’s development of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) policy, NIASW undertook a series of consultation events between March and August 2017 to explore social workers’ views on the proposal.
The findings of NIASW’s consultation exercise are presented in the paper Multidisciplinary Primary Care Team Proposal: Consultation Report.
