Nominate now for Social Worker of the Year Awards 2013 in England
BASW is supporting the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2013 in England, which this year will feature a judging panel that includes the two new Chief Social Workers and Professor Eileen Munro.
Nominations for the awards are now open ahead of a closing date of 5 September. BASW is sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award, one of 15 categories for the 2013 awards, including individual and team prizes. Entry forms for each category can be downloaded from www.socialworkawards.com. The winners will be announced on the 29 November at the Lancaster Hotel, London.
The new Chief Social Workers for England, Isabelle Trowler and Lyn Romeo, as well as Professor Munro, will be joined by a number of other high profile figures, including Dr Maggie Atkinson, Children’s Commissioner for England, and Anthony Douglas, Chief Executive of Cafcass. BASW’s Ruth Cartwright, Joe Godden and Sue Kent are also judges for specific awards.
Ruth Cartwright, BASW England Manager, emphasised the Association’s long-term support for the awards, which she said would “give recognition to all the hard work of social workers throughout England”.
Among other the other awards are Overall Social Worker of the Year, sponsored by Sanctuary Social Care, and Outstanding Contribution to Social Work, sponsored by The College of Social Work. There are separate awards for Children’s Social Worker of the Year and Adult Social Worker of the Year, the latter sponsored by Christies Care.
