SASW Sessions
Coming to a place near you! Lunchtimes between 12 noon and 2pm
· 19 May ABERDEEN, Station Hotel, Guild Street, AB 11 6LX
· 31 May GLASGOW, RSS Centre, 260 Bath St, G2 4PJ
Social work is a brilliant job! The SASW team are on the move this spring. We are going places to meet with social workers, to gather views, experiences, comments, opinions, suggestions, and constructive solutions on issues affecting the social worker role within the tapestry of services and policy developments, in Scotland today.
We want to know what we should offer, in order to represent you, as best we can, in the various forums we attend on policy plans and consultations. The red thread throughout is maintaining the unique professional identity of social workers within the professional partnerships you now work in, so that the needs and rights of people who use our services are protected.
The SASW National Standing Committee oversees the direction of travel through our SASW Strategic plan, but as a professional membership organisation, we are keen to have this informed and shaped by YOU.
We hope to talk with you and to you about:
· Health and Social Care Integration: An opportunity for positive recognition of our unique professional identity and role.
· Working to change practice in working with children and families: The SASW contribution in an exciting new work with partners, led by the University of Edinburgh
· SASW seminars: Which training and development opportunities would you like us to organise and provide for you?
· Workplace issues: Advice and Representation, matters that concern you, things that go well.
PLEASE try to find the time in your busy schedule, at lunchtime, to come and meet us, and do bring your colleagues!
We will be available at various venues during May and June, between 12 noon and 2pm, to discuss SASW involvement and activity on topics such as the Social Services Strategy, the integration of health and social care, the implementation of the Mental Health Act 2015, criminal justice, children and families work and child protection, asylum seekers, human rights and social work etc. We want it to be a conversation, so there will be plenty of time and opportunities for you to contribute or ask questions.
Then in June we are hoping to see people on:
· 23 June FIFE
· 27 June STIRLING
· 30 June DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY
The venues will be confirmed soon.
We are also considering dates for Borders, Highland, Aberdeenshire, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire later in the year and we are certainly open to invitations to come to your area if you invite us.
