SASW Team Weekly Roundup
We published a statement in response to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice's announcement of additional funding to assist in reducing the unpaid work backlog, arguing that short term funding is not the answer. Read it, here.
Karin collated the views of members from our Self-directed Support (SDS) discussion event in response to Social Work Scotland's Call for Comments on their draft SDS Standards.
Lisa liaised with stakeholders within the sector to promote our Safe & Together™ Model CORE Training, due to take place in February and March 2021. More can be found, here.
Sarah shared a digital input on SASW membership and on being a social worker at Napier University.
Alison went to a Social Work Scotland event looking at issues facing Justice Social Work and whether structural supports might improve consistency. Justice managers across Scotland agreed that national implementation is best delivered through local structures. Managers of services delivered through Health and Social Care Partnerships reported good working relationships across health and local authority functions which they would want to see retained and enhanced. The SASW team will be working with SWS in the new year to ensure that the voices of social workers delivering direct services inform the thinking going forward. We will keep you updated.
Alison met with Scottish Women's Aid to explore specific areas of work that we might collaborate on. This might include the implementation of UNCRC and the ways that children's and women's rights are often intertwined and how the Safe and Together training by both organisations will need to be informed by implementation science if practitioners are to be effective when working within their organisations.
