Share your views: Social Work England consultation on electronic communication and remote hearing
The Social Workers Union, BASW Advice and Representation Service and BASW England want to hear your views on amendments proposed by Social Work England to rules on electronic communication and remote hearings.
Almost all SWE fitness to practise hearings have been held remotely since March 2020. To make this possible, Social Work England made temporary changes to their rules.
This consultation proposes that SWE keep the changes introduced during the pandemic. Proposals include:
-
A definition of ‘place of the hearing’, so that it is clear that a hearing can be held virtually or physically;
-
Making permanent the requirement that communications can be sent by email;
-
Make clear who a social worker can choose to have correspondence and notices of hearing sent to.
Further details about the consultation are available to read online.
Please join us on Tuesday 8th February at 12:00pm – 1:30pm to share your views.
Please be aware that this event will be recorded. Following the event, the recording will be used to compile a final report which will be submitted to Social Work England.
