Social workers and service users against austerity and racism, side by side for social justice
Saturday 16 July 2016
BASW is calling all members to unite within the social workers and service users bloc and march saying: "No to austerity and no to racism".
The joint demonstration organised by The People’s Assembly Against Austerity and Stand Up To Racism will assemble at 12 noon by the BBC HQ in Portland Place, London W1.
BASW members meeting point will be Park Crescent, off Marylebone Road at 11.30am (nearest underground Great Portland Street). We will move down to join the main demonstration at around 12 noon.
This demonstration is the positive and united response to the political upheaval caused by the EU referendum on 23 June.
However people voted in the referendum, we now need to unite and take to the streets to demand an end to austerity policies, to stand up to anti-immigration racism and show our solidarity with refugees. We must make ourselves participants in shaping the future.
We will not let racism grow; we demand an end to austerity.
