Tackling Violence Taskforce

The Department of Health established a new Taskforce to tackle the serious problem of threats and attacks on social workers in Northern Ireland in November 2018.

This followed the publication of the BASW NI report “Insult and Injury: Exploring the impacts of intimidation, threats and violence against social workers” in June of the same year.

The remit has been expanded to include social care workers; the framework for employers in the statutory sector is due for publication this autumn.

BASW NI have been an active participant in the reference and working groups and we hope the framework will help all social workers to have safer more supported workplaces.
