Three Steps to Positive Practice
The Royal College of Nursing have published Three Steps to Positive Practice, a rights based approach when considering and reviewing the use of restrictive interventions.
This document was developed by a multi-disciplinary group based in Northern Ireland, involving the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Northern Ireland Association of Social Workers and the College of Occupational Therapists.
It is designed to assist health and social care professionals who may be involved in practices where people in their care may be restricted in some way, particularly during the period of the local review of mental health legislation and implementation of capacity legislation.
